School-Age Services

Our School Aged Intervention (SAI) Program provides therapy services to children aged 5 - 18 years*. We adopt a model of family-centred practice, and our aim is to support and empower all of our families and children.

How our School-Age Services operate

We believe it is the best practice to deliver services in your child’s natural environment, for example home, school, after-school care, local community sports and recreation centres. However, on occasion, we may offer clinic based appointments.

We are able to work and travel to children and families who attend schools in the following regions:

  • Canning
  • Swan
  • West Coast

Our therapy teams comprise of:

  • Speech Pathologists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Therapy Assistants

On occasion, we may also be able to provide access or referral to:

  • Upper Limb Splinting
  • Dietetics
  • Psychologists

When you are offered a place with our service, you will be offered a Family Welcome Meeting with your therapy team. Your therapy team will work with you to establish goals for your child and a Therapy Service Plan (TSP).

Therapy services can be tailored to include (where appropriate):

  • Assistance and guidance to achieve individual goals
  • Advice and education regarding common issues
  • Short bursts of direct therapy intervention
  • Prescriptions of aids, equipment and home modifications
  • Consultation and collaboration with educators, including Teachers, Education Assistants and School Principals
  • Implementation of manual handling safety plans
  • Implementation and oversight of mealtime management safety plans (typically in consultation with PMH)
  • Assistance to investigate post-school options
  • Links to sports and recreation groups, community groups, parent and peer support groups
