Community Aids & Equipment Program

Each year Therapy Focus manages a budget to purchase aids and equipment for our clients as part of the Government-funded Community Aids and Equipment Program (CAEP).

What Equipment can I receive through Therapy Focus' CAEP program?

Your therapist can provide your child with a wide range of equipment to assist in daily living, including:

  • Manual & power wheelchairs and components
  • Positioning equipment
  • Hoists and hoist slings
  • Home Modifications
  • Personal hygiene equipment such as shower chairs and commodes
  • Walking and standing frames
  • Communication devices and software

Items that are specifically for use at work, school or recreation activities including vehicles, laptops, specialised car seats and tricycles are NOT funded through CAEP. Speak to your therapist for advice on CAEP-funded equipment.

For advice and assistance about equipment not funded by CAEP, contact your therapists or Local Area Coordinator (LAC). To help locate your nearest LAC phone 1800 998 214 or visit www.disability.wa.gov.au

CAEP Refurbishment Centre (CRC)

In March 2010, the Disability Services Commission allocated funding to set up the CAEP Refurbishment Centre, which retrieves, refurbishes and resells equipment to families and organisations supplying people with disabilities.

By combining and managing the returned equipment of four organisations – Therapy Focus, Disability Services Commission, Rocky Bay  and The Centre for Cerebral Palsy – CAEP Refurbishment Centre is able to provide affordable equipment for people with disabilities, sometimes at half the price.

When a child no longer requires an item of equipment funded by CAEP, Therapy Focus returns the item to the CRC for re-furbishment and re-issue. Families are encouraged to also return equipment sought with alternative funding so that other children may benefit from its use.

The CRC is located behind the Therapy Focus Central office and Bentley therapy base at Unit 8, Bentley Centre Shopping Complex on Albany Hwy. Phone CRC Manager, Valerie Ford, on (08) 9451 5086 to book an appointment to view available equipment.
